These are around your home area so get rid of it and watch your pet closely if you see any of this around the area secure your pet immediately to prevent a poisoning situation.

Easter Lilies - Extremely DEADLY and highly toxic to cats, ingestion of even very small amount of any part of the plant leaf or petal can result in severe kidney failure and DIE without rapid aggressive emergency treatment.

Sago Palm -Just one or two seeds or nuts causes vomiting, diarrhea, depression, seizures and liver failure

Autumn Crocus -  Causes oral irritation, bloody vomiting, diarrhea, shock, multi-organ damage and bone marrow suppression.

Azalea/rhododendron - Contains cardiotoxins producing vomiting, drooling, diarrhea, weakness, depression of the central nervous system, coma and death.

Oleander - All Parts of this plant is toxic with the potential to cause gastrointestinal tract irritation, abnormal heart function, hypothermia and death.
 
Tulip/Narcissus bulbs - If a pet eats a large quantity of the bulb portion it causes intense gastrointestinal irritation, drooling, loss of appetite, depression of the central nervous system, convulsions, and cardia abnormalities.  Small amounts generally causes a little stomach upset or vomiting.

Castor bean -  Toxin named ricin causes severe abdominal pain, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst, weakness and loss of appetite, and in severe cases causes dehydration, muscle twitching, tremors, seizures, coma and death.

Marijuana - Causes depression of the central nervous system, incoordination, vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, increased heart rate, seizures and coma.
 
Yew - Has taxine which causes central nervous system effects, trembling, incoordination and difficulty breathing, gastrointestinal irritation and cardiac failure, which results in death

Mushrooms/toadstools - Highly Toxic and causes liver failure and death.  Often found in yards.

Hibiscus Flowers - are highly neurologically toxic and will cause severe neurological problems and kill dogs and cats.

Cycad palms and Foxglove and Lily of the Valley are also very deadly and highly toxic to any animal and cat and will kill if eaten of any amount.  Cycad palms causes liver failure, and dogs may die within 24 to 48 hours after ingestion. 

Please make sure you take the time and know the scientific names of plants in your home and yard so you can be specific when talking to poison control if such incident takes place.

Slug and snail bait is highly attractive to dogs, but it causes tremors and seizures that can be severe and life-threatening within minutes to hours after they’ve eaten it

Instead, use Sluggo or Sluggo Plus, which uses iron phosphate and is non-toxic to dogs, cats and birds, recommends Cheryl S. Smith, author of "Dog Friendly Gardens, Garden Friendly Dogs."

To kill insects and fungi, Smith suggests a product called Phyta-Guard EC, which contains rosemary oil and clove oil rather than chemicals.

AVOID using cocoa mulch as the by products of this contains cocoa which is poisonous to dogs.
